The Rehab Physio, a specialist rehabilitation clinic based in Bromborough, has received a £250,000 investment through NPIF – FW Capital Debt Finance, managed by FW Capital and part of the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund.
Headed up by wife and husband team Jen and Chris Wynne, both of whom previously worked as physios in the NHS, The Rehab Physio offers high quality specialist neurological physiotherapy to patients in North West England and North Wales. Employing nine staff, it is based out of a newly built 3500 sq ft purpose-built facility and utilises state-of-the-art technology to help rehabilitate patients that have suffered severe injury or illness.
NPIF – FW Capital’s £250,000 investment will be used to invest in a suite of specialist robotic equipment, thought only to be available in two other practices in the UK. It will allow the clinic to provide better support to its patients, allowing them to do thousands of repetitions of steps or exercises that is impossible to achieve in a standard physiotherapy session.
Jen Wynne, Business Manager at The Rehab Physio said: “Robotics allows us to offer gold standard rehab and our aim is to become a regional and national centre for intensive outpatient rehabilitation. We know from research findings that intensity is key to a successful outcome, and evidence shows that repetition is the most effective way to rehabilitate people following neurological or catastrophic injury. By investing in this ground-breaking equipment, we can offer patients a complete solution which comprises the technology centre, focused physio and a rehab gym which aims to plug a gap in current physiotherapy treatment.
“Our new facility offers high quality rehabilitation to anyone with neurological and complex needs regardless of budget. We want to reach out to people with neurological or serious injuries as well as solicitors, case managers, GPs, consultants, and NHS commissioning services to develop their understanding of new treatment methods and its benefits.
“We are really grateful for the support we received from NPIF and FW Capital. We are physios and not very experienced at dealing with raising finance. NPIF – FW Capital helped us to get everything in place so that we were in a strong position to apply for funding.”
FW Capital investment executive Carol Bolland said: “The robotics equipment that we have funded provides specialist, intensive treatment which could help patients achieve a shorter recovery path than with traditional methods. We believe this investment will make The Rehab Physio a leading light in physiotherapy treatment in the UK and we are delighted to be able to support them. Jen and Chris spotted a growing need for this sort of technology and are a great example of the type of innovative business owners that NPIF are keen to support.”
Sue Barnard at British Business Bank, said: “NPIF has a strong track record of supporting innovative companies in the Northern healthcare sector. This investment into The Rehab Physio is another example, as NPIF continues to deliver on its commitment to support ambitious Northern business across a host of emerging and traditional sectors. It is our aim to support growing businesses and boost the Northern economy as a result.”
FW Capital provides loans of £100,000 to £750,000 to businesses based in the NPIF region with a focus on the North West, Cumbria and Tees Valley.
