Inovus Medical adds former Unilever Executive to board of directors ahead of continued global expansion

Inovus Medical, a leading innovator in the field of surgical training technology, has announced the appointment of Loraine Hughes to its board of directors. Hughes joins as the company’s Finance and Operations Director following a significant period of growth for the business, having doubled headcount in 2023 and secured major partnerships with AAGL and Hologic Inc. The appointment strengthens the senior leadership team at a time that the organization eyes continued global expansion.

Hughes brings a wealth of experience to Inovus Medical, with decades of multi-sector expertise across medical technology, fast moving consumer goods and manufacturing. Her impressive track record includes stints with Unilever, INEOS and, most recently, Wepa. Notably, Hughes made significant contributions to the growth of BSN Medical, a joint venture of Smith and Nephew and Beiersdorf, and its subsequent acquisition by private equity.

Glenn Cooper, Chairman of Inovus Medical, commented,

“This is an extremely exciting time for Inovus Medical as we are in the midst of unprecedented growth. We are confident that Loraine’s expertise and experience will be pivotal in supporting our rapid global expansion. Her addition to our leadership team is a significant milestone in our journey towards becoming the world’s partner for surgical training.”

In addition to Cooper’s statement, Will Clark, Managing Director of Mercia Ventures, an early-stage investor in Inovus, expressed his enthusiasm:

“Mercia Ventures is excited to witness the continued expansion of Inovus Medical, and we are pleased to welcome someone of Loraine’s calibre to the senior leadership team. Her background and skills are a perfect match for the company’s ambitious growth trajectory.”

Loraine shared her excitement about joining Inovus Medical, saying,

“I am thrilled to be a part of such a fast-growing and dynamic business like Inovus Medical. The potential for innovation and impact in the healthcare industry is tremendous, and I’m eager to contribute to the company’s ongoing success.”

In her new role as Finance and Operations Director, Hughes will support the founding executives in shaping the strategic growth of the business with a particular focus on its continued expansion globally. Her deep experience in both finance and operations, combined with her knowledge of the medical technology sector, will play a pivotal role in guiding Inovus Medical toward ongoing success.
