The LCR Seed Fund is aimed at early stage businesses with world-class products or services in any sector and particularly welcomes applications from LCR’s growth sectors: Advanced Manufacturing, Digital and Creative, and Health and Life Sciences.
You may already have taken some investment, for example from friends and family, angels, crowdfunding or an incubator, which has got you started and proved your business model, so you are ready for the next stage. The LCR Seed Fund can provide that vital finance to take you to Series A and B funding. It can be part of a larger funding round.
Meet the team
The Liverpool City Region Seed Fund is funded by Liverpool City Region Combined Authority and managed by AXM Venture Capital. The team is based at 100 Old Hall Street.
Rupert Wingate-Saul
Investment Director
Rupert was an investment director with the North West Fund for Digital & Creative. His background is telecommunications, and he has a degree in engineering from Cambridge University.
Joanne Evans
Investment Director
Joanne was also an investment director with the North West Fund for Digital & Creative. She founded and exited a media company and has managed software and digital health companies.
Fred Mendelsohn
Executive Chair
Fred is managing director of FCA authorised Fund Manager, AXM Venture Capital. He has 30 years’ experience investing in early stage businesses.

The Fund will be making investments until 2030, so if your business is not ready yet, there is plenty of time for it to develop. If you are interested in learning more about the LCR Seed Fund and how equity finance works, you can join Founder Funding Group workshops and pitch practice sessions run by the Seed Fund team. We will be adding dates and locations across LCR throughout the duration of the Fund.
