ACC Liverpool set a new standard for sustainable events, achieving Green Meetings Gold Accreditation

ACC Liverpool has taken an exciting leap forward in sustainability by recently achieving the highly coveted Green Meetings Gold Accreditation. This accomplishment recognizes the venue’s commitment to eco-friendly practices, positioning it as a leader in the events industry when it comes to environmental responsibility.

The Green Meetings Gold Accreditation is awarded to venues that demonstrate excellence in sustainable operations, including waste reduction, energy efficiency, and promoting green initiatives within the community. Achieving this certification reflects a deep dedication to minimizing environmental impact while offering world-class experiences to guests and clients.

This achievement aligns with ACC Liverpool’s overarching sustainability strategy and its goal to reach carbon net zero by 2030. The venue has implemented a range of initiatives to reduce its environmental footprint, from installing air sourced heat pumps and LED lighting, promoting sustainable waste management practices, and increasing biodiversity on-site.

The venue’s ongoing efforts include collaborating with local businesses and environmental organisations to reduce their carbon footprint, alongside offering support and guidance to event organisers who share their vision of hosting eco-conscious events. Long-term efforts to reduce carbon emissions are continuing to pay off after the latest figures show that they are ahead of schedule in their goal to reach carbon zero by 2030.

ACC Liverpool’s latest report on their carbon footprint shows that emissions continue to decline. The total level of emissions ACC produced in 2022/23 was 554 tonnes Co2e, a 12 per cent reduction against its baseline of 630 tonnes Co2e.

Adrian Evans, Director of Sales – Conference & Business Events said,

“Achieving the Green Meetings Gold Accreditation is an incredible honour for us. It’s testament to our team’s hard work and dedication to sustainability. This accreditation reaffirms our commitment to a greener future and inspires us to keep pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in sustainable event management. We hope to continue to raise the bar for sustainable practices, making a significant impact on both the local community and the broader events industry.”

With this achievement, ACC Liverpool is setting a new standard for what modern venues can accomplish when they embrace a sustainable mindset. Their Gold Accreditation reflects a future where great experiences and environmental responsibility go hand-in-hand, proving that you can host world-class events while protecting the planet for generations to come.

The accolade comes in the wake of ACC Liverpool achieving Platinum status in the Greengage ECOsmart Hotels and Venues Certification and news that Liverpool has been named as the UN’s first Accelerator City for decarbonisation. This prestigious accolade recognises the venue’s exceptional commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.
