Liverpool City Region Welcomes MedTech Delegations from Estonia and Ireland

On Wednesday morning, Cllr Mike Wharton, Deputy Mayor of Liverpool City Region today welcomed distinguished delegations from Estonia and Ireland to the first Innovate UK Digital MedTech brokerage event held at the Liver Building on Liverpool’s historic waterfront.

The visit underscores Liverpool City Region’s growing reputation as a hub for innovation and research in MedTech, as well as its commitment to fostering global partnerships that will drive transformative advancements in healthcare and innovation.

The event brought together business leaders, investors, academics and founders, with a shared focus on identifying key areas for collaboration, including medical devices, health data analytics, digital health, and biotechnology. This cross-border initiative, developed by Innovate UK, is designed to enhance knowledge sharing, leverage cutting-edge technologies, and co-develop solutions that address some of the most pressing challenges in modern healthcare.

Attendees were welcomed by Cllr Mike Wharton, H.E. Mr Viljar Lubi the Ambassador for Estonia in the UK, and Sarah Mangan, Consul General of Ireland for the North of England. Keynote presentations focused on funding for international collaboration and the intricacies of working with the NHS. After a rapid round of pitching at lunchtime participants, had the opportunity for one to one meetings to explore in depth potential synergies in research, development, and commercialization.
