HaulageHub, the Sci-Tech Daresbury based digital freight marketplace transforming how shippers and carriers connect, has announced the appointment of Tom Warren as its new Carrier Manager.
Tom brings over a decade of operational and account management expertise from leading major logistics companies including Menzies Distribution, EV Cargo and Great Bear, where he developed strong relationships across the transport sector and delivered innovative solutions for complex logistics challenges.
In his new role, Tom will be responsible for expanding HaulageHub’s carrier network, ensuring quality partnerships, and supporting the company’s mission to streamline operations, enhance logistics efficiency, and most importantly, reduce empty-running and CO₂ emissions.
With Tom’s appointment, HaulageHub continues to build momentum in reshaping the digital freight landscape, providing innovative tools to simplify logistics, reduce empty running, and create stronger, data-driven partnerships between shippers and carriers.
2025 has already been a landmark year for HaulageHub in terms of strategic partnerships. Earlier this year, HaulageHub launched the RHA Exchange in collaboration with the Road Haulage Association to address inefficiencies in the haulage sector – especially empty running – by enabling RHA’s 8,000 members to more easily share work and subcontract loads.
The company also extended its contract with Menzies Distribution on a five-year basis, harnessing HaulageHub’s technology to streamline operations, reduce CO₂ emissions and enhance sustainability across supply chains.
And in mid-2025, HaulageHub formed an integration partnership with Microlise, incorporating HaulageHub into Microlise’s Transport Management System (TMS) to help hauliers reduce empty running, improve real-time visibility and cut environmental impact.
Scott Robertson, Co-Founder of HaulageHub, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Tom to the team. His depth of experience and strong industry background will be a real asset as we continue to scale HaulageHub. Building and strengthening trusted carrier relationships is at the heart of what we do, and Tom’s expertise will play a vital role in driving our growth.”
Tom Warren, Carrier Manager at HaulageHub, added: “I’m excited to be joining HaulageHub at such a pivotal time in its journey. The platform is redefining how carriers and shippers work together, and I look forward to supporting the development of a strong, reliable carrier network that helps both sides unlock more value and efficiency.”
Empty running accounts for over 30% of all HGV miles in the UK. This staggering inefficiency escalates operational costs for hauliers and shippers, contributing over five million tonnes of avoidable CO2 emissions annually.
HaulageHub’s platform leverages advanced AI technology to bring shippers and hauliers together, maximising operational efficiency by allocating loads to hauliers with historically empty routes, reducing their empty miles and fuel usage, and therefore enhancing profitability.
