Hugh Baird College has begun its new academic year by welcoming Geraldine Sloan as its new Chair of Governors.
A Chartered Accountant who runs her own business, Geraldine originally trained and qualified with PricewaterhouseCoopers and specialises in the not-for-profit sectors, working with education and charity organisations. She first joined the Governing Body in 2012 and served as a member of the Audit Committee for just under four years. Following a break from the Board to focus on her business, Geraldine returned to serve on the Finance and Resources Committee in 2017 and has been an active member of the Governing Body since then.
Geraldine takes over the chairpersonship from David Crosby M.B.E. Now retired, David previously enjoyed a career in the Royal Mail and subsequently owned a successful management consultancy. David was Chair of Governors for the last four years and a member of the Board for twelve years. David’s exemplary service to the College and the local community was recognised with an M.B.E. in the Queen’s New Year Honours.

Hugh Baird College’s Governing Body comprises members of the public, staff and students who offer a wide range of experience and skills. The Governors support and challenge the College leaders and ensure that the College stays true to its mission, vision and values.
