Tickets Sold Out for Inaugural Slush Event in Liverpool

Tickets have sold out for the UK debut of Slush – Europe’s foremost tech startup event.

The conference – dubbed a “celebration of entrepreneurial grit” – will bring together startup founders and operators, investors and policy-makers at Content Liverpool, in the cities Baltic Triangle on 14th September.

More than 300 attendees managed to secure tickets before capacity was reached with over 2 weeks to go. The event will feature a huge array of local startups as well as companies from further afield, plus active investors and inspiring speakers.

Liverpool, Manchester and London are among the most represented cities for startups, with Advanced Materials, Immersive Technologies, eCommerce, FinTech and Life Sciences the most popular technologies and sector verticals cited.

Speakers hail from some of the most exciting names in tech including Oliver Yonchev from Flight Story and Henry Whorwood from Beauhurst. They will take to the stage alongside other notable speakers such as Oxford University’s Professor Chas Bountra and KPMG’s Patrick Molyneux to discuss how to craft a thriving startup ecosystem.

A drop-in business clinic will be provided in neighbouring ’Dockleaf’ by KPMG, one of the main sponsors of the event. Other sponsors include Growth Platform, Baltic Ventures, Gather, LCR Angel Network, After Athena, River Capital, Marks and Clerk, Lloyd’s Bank + the University of Liverpool.

Slush was founded by a group of students in Helsinki 15 years ago as a grassroots meetup for early-stage tech founders. It has evolved to become regarded by founders as Europe’s foremost tech conference, attracting the biggest names in the startup and investment community, with a reputation for valuable insights, incredible production, and unrivalled networking.

But it is much more than an event. The Slush model of fostering a tight-knit community of innovators and investors, and rigorously tackling the bottlenecks that hinder local startups from reaching their full potential, has led to exponential economic gains for Helsinki.

The opportunity to embrace this approach to startup ecosystem-building in Liverpool will be at the heart of the conference.

This year, Slush has selected 15 partner cities to deliver “Slush’D” events, with meetups being delivered across 4 continents under the spinoff brand, in cities ranging from Liverpool to Wellington (New Zealand), Delhi (India), and Busan (South Korea).

Jonny Clark, Director of Liverpool Slush’D, said: “The sheer scale of excitement we’ve seen about Slush coming to Liverpool is extraordinary. Tickets are 20% oversubscribed!

“The event space limits us to 300 people – but the demand from Liverpool’s startup community sends a clear signal that this City Region is more than just a night out or a lifestyle destination. It is a feasible place to build globally competitive businesses that can achieve scale, reputation and success.”

“It’s going to be an incredible event, with game-changing insights, high-value networking opportunities, and exclusive pitches from some of the hottest startups on the scene.”
