Kindred is partnering with Firestarters to deliver a special event to help SMEs understand how to embed local procurement as a regular habit in their organisations. This event will help small businesses connect with Kindred’s network of socially trading organisations (STOs) and hear success stories from both sides on how transformative local procurement can be. We’ll have an inspiring panel of speakers confirmed soon.

Why is local procurement important?

There are many benefits to procuring services or goods locally. Research from the Centre for Local Economic Strategies showed that every £1 spent locally generated an additional 63p of benefit for the local economy. What’s more, the 2023 Made in Britain Buying British Survey found that 61% of people said that they were more likely to buy a product made locally, even during a cost of living crisis.

Attend to understand:

  • The benefits of buying locally
  • The types of goods and services that can be procured locally
  • Tangible ideas you can execute in the short and long term
  • Who the local STOs are in your city region
  • Which businesses need good and services from local STOs

What to expect from the event

  • Valuable, person to person networking
  • Practical advice that enables positive change to happen quickly
  • New knowledge and enthusiasm on local procurement practices
  • Friendly, accessible networking without the “hard sell”
  • Inspiring speakers with real-world experience
