Funded by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) and consortium partners, the Liverpool City Region HDD (High Density Demand) project is running from September 2023 to February 2025.
The R&D project showcases the benefits of Open RAN (Open Radio Access Network) technology in optimising real-world performance in high-connectivity environments.
The project has worked on developing the technology, and then trialling it in real-world environments to see if the new HDD network can easily, safely and securely provide connectivity in High Demand Density environments, such as event spaces. The project emphasises collaboration with national and private networks to understand their needs and encourage participation through trials in a controlled environment.
