The UK National Health Service spends over £27bn a year on goods and services and presents a big opportunity to businesses looking to have their innovative healthcare products and services procured by the NHS.
The NHS in England, which is responsible for around 4% of England’s total carbon footprint, has set targets to reach net zero by 2040 for direct emissions and 2045 for emissions it influences. This initiative is part of the Greener NHS program, which aims to reduce the environmental impact of the healthcare system across areas such as estates, energy, and supply chains.
Since April 2022, the NHS has included a minimum of 10% weighting for net zero and social value in all procurements.
This Excel in Health workshop will help you align with NHS’s net zero goals. Innovators who can demonstrate their commitment to carbon reduction and net zero are more likely to score higher in the procurement process.
