Black & Ginger Marks Record Year with Three Major New Projects Showcasing Design for Growth and Purpose

Liverpool-based design studio Black & Ginger has announced the delivery of three major new projects: a rebrand for Gaia Energy, a rebrand for Triopsis and a high-impact campaign for the Association of Liverpool City Region Colleges (AoLCRC), rounding off one of the most successful years in the agency’s history.

The trio of projects exemplify Black & Ginger’s approach to strategic creative, helping ambitious organisations clarify their purpose, connect with their audiences and drive impact.

Gaia Energy: Powering Growth and Purpose

Knowsley-based retrofit firm Gray North West has rebranded as Gaia Energy, marking its fifth anniversary and an ambitious new phase of growth. The company, which operates from carbon-neutral offices powered by solar energy, has achieved year-on-year expansion since launching in 2020 and is on track to exceed £5 million in turnover this financial year.

The rebrand, developed by Black & Ginger, signals Gaia Energy’s evolution into a leading force in energy efficiency and a key delivery partner advancing the UK’s journey to net zero.

Liam Gray, Director of Gaia Energy, says:

“Working with Alex and the Black & Ginger team has been a brilliant experience. They truly captured who we are and what we stand for. The process was an education and the results speak for themselves: a brand that reflects our purpose and ambitions for the future.”

Alex Frech, Founder and Creative Director of Black&Ginger, added:

“Gaia Energy represents the kind of values-led business we love to work with: one that’s growing fast and driving the transition to a low-carbon future. The new identity positions them for their next phase of expansion while staying true to their sustainable ethos.”

Triopsis: Reimagining a Disruptive AI Brand

Black & Ginger has also completed a full rebrand for Triopsis, a leading software company working with the highways and utilities sectors. Having grown from a niche technology provider into a major player in AI-powered field solutions, Triopsis’ new identity reflects its evolution and bold, disruptive approach.

Andy Hutt, CEO, at Triopsis, said:

“We’ve worked with Black & Ginger twice now, most recently on a full rebrand as we evolved into an AI software company. From the outset, the Black&Ginger team brought creativity, professionalism and agility, delivering a bold new identity, website and visuals that clearly position us as an AI-driven business. They went above and beyond to meet our ambitious brief, and we couldn’t be happier with the result.”

Frech commented: “Triopsis is an ambitious, boundary-pushing company. Our challenge was to create a visual language that balances sophistication with approachability, reflecting both AI expertise and human focus.”

AoLCRC: Designing Futures Through Collaboration

Black & Ginger also partnered with the Association of Liverpool City Region Colleges (AoLCRC) to deliver a campaign celebrating collaboration between local educators and industry. The project, launched earlier this year, showcases how Liverpool’s colleges are working with employers to build the skills and pathways needed for the region’s economic future.

Sue Higginson, Executive Director of AoLCRC, said:

“Our vision was to demonstrate how six independent colleges can come together with one voice to build the workforce of tomorrow. Black & Ginger’s creativity and partnership approach helped us tell that story in an innovative, compelling way.”

The campaign, funded through Liverpool City Region’s Skills Development Fund, included short films, an interactive digital hub and a presentation tool designed as a board game for stakeholders: a signature example of Black & Ginger’s inventive approach.

A Record Year for Creative Growth

The three new projects cap off a record-breaking year for the Liverpool studio, which continues to grow its national client base across tech, sustainability, education and social impact sectors.

Frech added: “This has been our strongest year yet (for many years), not just in growth, but in the kind of work we’re doing. From disruptive AI firms to purpose-driven energy companies and education pioneers, our clients are proof that creativity and strategy combined can drive real-world change.”

Black & Ginger have recently been awarded ‘Commended’ in the Culture & Tourism Business of the Year category at the Merseyside in Business Independent Business Awards (MiB) 2025 for Good Market, their initiative born during lockdown to support small businesses through Covid. The agency developed the concept, crafted the brand identity and built the e-commerce platform to give artists and makers an online space to continue selling their products during the pandemic.
