The Digital Tech Cluster has been set up to create an environment that supports the growth of digital tech companies and creates an inclusive community that shares experience and success. The cluster seeks to play a key role in helping ambitious digital tech start-ups and scale-ups meet their ambitious growth plans and drive innovation across the whole economy.
Join us to find out about raising early-stage equity investment from angels, crowdfunders and venture capitalists.
What is seed investment?
Seed funding is finance available for companies in exchange for a share of the business (equity), it is usually for companies in their first few years of existence. Seed investors recognise that the company is still developing its product, testing out routes to market and product-market-fit.
The finance is used to move from a testing stage to a position where the company has a market-ready product and knows how it will sell, perhaps even having made sales already. It is not an exact science and there are different perspectives. How much it costs to get to that next stage will affect the amount raised, for some, it’ll be £100k, for others it’ll be £3m.
You will learn about the investment landscape, the effect of investment on your company, who the investors are, what motivates them, legals, due diligence and top tips to raise money from the right investor. The interactive workshop is three hours long and will give you useful insight into how to raise your first investment round.
The workshop will be run by the Digital Tech Cluster Development Manager, James Bedford, a former investment fund manager and business advisor.
Joining instructions will be sent a few days prior.
