Six Stories, Six Boroughs profiles a star business from each borough of the Liverpool City Region, that has used support from the Local Growth Hub as a springboard to success. In this article we take a look at Sefton based business, Immersive Interactive.

Founded in 2013, Immersive Interactive specialise in creating bespoke education and training solutions using a combination of software, hardware, and digital content, to create immersive ‘virtual reality’ rooms.

The business, based in Sefton, has seen significant growth in the past six years, and has recently received funding through the Local Growth Hub to further develop the cloud-based software on which the immersive experiences are built.

Chris Porter, Director at Immersive Interactive says:

“The financial and bespoke business support the Local Growth Hub has given us has really helped us to bring our immersive rooms to life. We are committed to pushing the boundaries of immersive training.”

Immersive Interactive previously participated in the LCR Activate programme, which allowed the business to expand its expertise into new sectors. The business now has 150 spaces globally across all aspects of healthcare, including mental health, dementia and end of life care. It also has rooms in 180 schools and over 40 universities; for medical and nurse training, the emergency services, fire and rescue and air ambulance.

Immersive Interactive installed a room in the nursing faculty at LJMU in June 2018. Student nurses using the pioneering technology have been able to create their own interactive content to improve and enhance the learning experience.

This is the first time the university has used fully immersive content as part of the curriculum. It includes projection, audio, and interactivity to create realistic clinical environments.
