Merseyrail launches cheaper travel option with Merseyrail Only Railpass

A new Merseyrail Only Railpass has been launched covering the Northern and Wirral lines – offering a significant saving to thousands of customers across the Liverpool City Region.

The new pass will offer passengers unlimited travel with weekly, monthly and annual options available – saving the need to queue for a ticket each day.

This brand new ticket offer enables passengers travelling on the Northern and Wirral lines to pay less for the same journey.
The traditional Railpass ticket will still be available to those wishing to travel on the City line.

Passengers only pay for the zones and areas they travel in, so if they don’t travel on the City line, the Merseyrail Only Railpass works out five per cent cheaper than the existing traditional Railpass.

Getting a Merseyrail Only Railpass is easy – all passengers need to do is download and complete an application form on the Merseyrail website and take it to any staffed station along with a passport-size photo and some form of identification.

Merseyrail also offers a Young Person’s Merseyrail Only Railpass for those 18 and under.

The Railpass Calculator on the Merseyrail website is available for passengers to quickly check how much money they could save compared to buying daily tickets.

Suzanne Grant, Commercial Director at Merseyrail, said: “Through speaking to our passengers we identified an opportunity to offer an alternative Railpass ticket option for those only using our Northern and Wirral lines.

“We are committed to offering the best price for our passengers alongside the most reliable and punctual service in the country, and this new season ticket is another way of helping us to achieve this.”

The pass will be available to buy from any staffed Merseyrail station from Wednesday 27 November.
