Tourism Awards shortlist announced

The Liverpool City Region Tourism Awards 2020 has announced its shortlist to recognise excellence across the city region’s tourism and hospitality industry.

Each year the judging panel sifts through the many applications to narrow down the very best in the business.

All those shortlisted, will now go forward to the final judging panel ahead of the glittering awards ceremony on 14 May 2020. The panel will have the difficult task of deciding who will be crowned winners in their respective categories at the black-tie event taking place at Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral.

There are 17 award categories this year which cover the whole industry, and include Hotel of the Year, Entertainment Venue of the Year and New Tourism Business of the Year. New for 2020 is an award for Ethical, Responsible and Sustainable Tourism.

Peter Sandman, Head of Visitor Economy for Growth Platform – Liverpool City Region Growth Company, said: “Every year those shortlisted reflects the high standard and strong competition of the tourism industry across the region. Growth in this sector is healthy with latest figures showing that the local visitor economy is now worth over £4.9bn and employs more than 57,000 people. Over 60m people visit each year for work and for leisure and we hope that this shortlist highlights that there is something for everyone to enjoy.

“Holding the event in such a stunning venue will create a very special atmosphere for a wonderful evening.”

The headline sponsor this year is Liverpool ONE, along with other sponsors – ACC Liverpool, Epic Hotels, Expedia, Growth Platform, Hotel Indigo, Liverpool Cathedral, Liverpool Gin, Liverpool John Lennon Airport, Marketing Liverpool, Merseyrail, Metro, Owen Drew, Ticket Quarter and Wirral Chamber of Commerce.
