Case Study: 3D Training – Funding helps sustain training company growth

Launched in 2105 by three women who have over 50 years of working in the training sector – Barbara Gardner Sharp, Gill Abbotts and Rachael Davies. Wirral based, 3D Training delivers adult learning across Liverpool City Region.

As well as working with many local businesses to train their workforce in skills such as leadership, management and heath & safety; they also work in partnership with drug and alcohol recovery services and mental health charities offering support to people who work to help those who are hard to reach or facing significant challenges in their lives.

Some of the companies they have helped provide training for include: Liverpool John Lennon Airport, Liverpool Cathedral, The Contact Company and Livv Housing Group (formerly First Ark).

Courses in mental health, social care and counselling are currently in high demand across the region, with 3D Training also able to provide tailormade training to suit specific business needs – delivering apprenticeships for example.

To further this demand and projected growth, Growth Platform has helped support a bid for the New Markets 2 ERDF Programme which provided the company with a Learner Management System (LMS) – designed to track both government funded and commercial learners, the system holds over 500 records and gives access to four users.

Rachael Davies – Director of Development at 3D Training – said: “The LMS software has been an incredible support to our already busy administration team. It has helped us streamline processes across the business which has helped save time and reduced inputting errors. Rather than using multiple spreadsheets we now have one reliable data portal. The reports the new system generates are helping us manage productivity and capacity allowing us to make quicker management decisions, they have also enabled us to use the data to set more challenging targets for the team.

“The support from Growth Platform’s Commercial Broker, Paul Radcliffe, and the New Markets 2 ERDF grant contribution has ultimately enabled us to invest in a system which makes our business a more productive and efficient one, allowing us to plan future growth for the company.”

The next step for 3D Training is to put into practice their growth plans for adult learning – they are continuing to work with various community services and local charities to help remove barriers to learning – giving more people across the Liverpool City Region the opportunity to learn and make positive life changes.
