Livv Housing Group put on their Santa hats to help disadvantaged children this Christmas

A Merseyside housing association is showing its support for the local community this Christmas by helping out with Radio City’s Cash for Kids’ annual Christmas appeal.

Around 25 employees from Livv Housing Group have sorted and packed toys and gifts in a warehouse for the Mission Christmas appeal, to help ensure that children across the region wake up to a present from Santa this year.

The charity aims to improve the lives of disadvantaged children and young people in the community who are affected by illness, poverty, neglect or have additional needs.

Throughout Mission Christmas, new and unwrapped gifts are being donated at drop-off points across the Liverpool City region where a team of volunteers sort and pack the gifts for thousands of local children.

As well as helping in the warehouse, dozens of Livv volunteers have been unloading donor vehicles, and delivering gifts to families who need an extra helping hand.

Radio City’s Cash for Kids is a grant-giving charity working with organisations across the region that aim to make a difference to young lives, and directly support families who often have nowhere else to go through our regular grant rounds.

Cash for Kids commit that at least 80p from every £1 they receive goes back into the local community and every gift donated and every cash amount pledged goes straight back to local communities to ensure that help is given to those who need it most.

Léann Hearne, Livv Housing Group Chief Executive, said: “We are so proud of all our employees at Livv who have generously donated their time to help out with this incredible cause.

“The children receiving these gifts have had to deal with some really difficult challenges over the past 18 months. For us, the least we could do was to try and spread some Christmas cheer and help Cash For Kids achieve their mission.

“I would encourage everyone, if you are able to do so, to consider volunteering for or donating to this great cause in future. The past two years have been extremely tough for these families and charities like Cash For Kids need our help now more than ever.”

Laura Charlton, Charity Manager, Radio City Cash for Kids, said: “I want to thank Livv Housing Group for partnering with Mission Christmas this year. Livv Housing have been extremely hands on, they have volunteered regularly to collect and sort through our donations and worked with us to make sure we can fulfil each application that we have received.

“People in our community have always been so amazingly generous when it comes to Mission Christmas and we are so thankful for their support. We want to make sure that even more young people can be given some Christmas cheer this year.”
