Sci-Tech Daresbury’s 4D Products to revolutionise home and hospitality cooking following collaboration with Jersey inventor

Sci-Tech Daresbury’s 4D Products and Jersey, Channel Islands, based inventor Subina Shami are looking to revolutionise the world of cooking after receiving several prestigious awards for their Cuisine Machine prototype.

The fully automated product cooks elaborate recipes at the touch of a button. It follows programmed instructions of its electronic recipe card to automatically add ingredients during cooking, while also stirring and controlling temperature and pressure (psi). Cuisine Machine is the latest cutting-edge smart kitchen solution for restaurants and households who want home-cooked meals without compromising quality and convenience.

4D Products is a design company based at the leading science and technology campus in the North West, Sci-Tech Daresbury. The company has a strong track record in bringing innovative products to life, and uses cutting edge practices and methods to help realise its clients’ ambitions. 4D Products supports the product design process from pre-design research all the way through to manufacture and commercialisation.

Subina Shami, the inventor of Cuisine Machine, is an inventor based in Jersey who seeks to transform the art of the home cooked meal into a simple, efficient, and automatic practice. Subina also believes that this product will help reduce food waste, as the Cuisine Machine also intends to be coupled with a subscription service which will mean that only specified amounts of ingredients will be sent per recipe, eliminating not only the problem of food waste for the consumer but also fully automated cooking means that following a recipe book will become a thing of the past.

The prototype uses pressure cooking technology which saves time and reduces energy bills. The chambers holding the ingredients are made of heatproof silicone, and release food into the cooking bowl through an air suction system. The Cuisine Machine is capable of a wide variety of cooking functions, including braising, stewing, pressure cooking, pot-roasting, sous vide, and steaming, and aims to help the millions of people who don’t have the time or resources to cook nutritious food.

The prototype is patent pending, with the unique functionality of automatically releasing ingredients during cooking, which sets it apart from the market competition.

At the prestigious British and International Awards categories at the British Invention Show, the product won a Platinum Award and a Double Gold in the Innovation Consumer and Invention Consumer categories respectively. Further to this, in the International categories, Cuisine Machine also scooped a Diamond award in the David Nicholas OBE Design Awards.

Subina Shami herself was recognised with an Overall Global Exemplary Diamond Award for outstanding achievements, tenacity, and commitment capable of impacting lives.

The next step in this collaboration will be to launch Cuisine Machine into the consumer appliance market, in the hopes that the product will find its way into kitchens all over the globe. This will involve taking the prototype to potential manufacturers while both 4D Products and Subina are also exploring the options of partnering up with celebrity chefs in order to collaborate with the Cuisine Machine food subscription service.

James Bell, product design director, 4D Products said: “We really believe that the Cuisine Machine can revolutionise the world of home cooking and can lead by example in eliminating one of the key causes of food waste. We have loved working with Subina Shami in bringing this innovative new product to life and we are excited to continue our relationship as we work towards its progression into the consumer market.”

Subina Shami, inventor of Cuisine Machine, said: “I found the team at 4D Products to be extremely professional and highly creative. I wanted to work with a company who could visualise my invention, a team who could think outside the box and simplify complex engineering without compromising on the efficiency of the various components within the product. They did a brilliant job and I thoroughly enjoyed working with them, allowing the Cuisine Machine to be as simple for the consumer as loading the ingredients, switching it on and walking away! I would be thrilled to continue this journey with them until the product’s successful launch in the marketplace.”
