Case Study: Abbey Fire develop three year plan with support from the Business Growth Programme

Abbey Fire (UK) Ltd, based at Beeston Court, Manor Park, is a company with over 100 years working experience within the fire industry. It offers a wide variety of products and services including – fire extinguisher servicing, fire risk assessments, dry and wet riser testing, fire training and much more.

The business found out about fully funded business support that is available in Halton for Small to Medium sized businesses through the Business Growth Programme.

Although the business was not particularly looking for support, they decided to investigate the opportunity.

Abbey Fire was in the 3rd year of their business plan when COVID19 hit. Covid19 affected the business with a drop in turnover and having to furlough some staff.

The support which Abbey Fire (UK) Ltd received, enabled them to look at the next 3-year plan with a different perspective and implement new changes. They also created a vision statement in conjunction with the specialist who delivered one to one support.

The in-depth support given enabled them to implement new strategies.

Abbey Fire (UK) Ltd started implementing the new targets from September 2021 and the business is now on target to increase turnover by 25%.

Another goal was to increase the profit margin to 12%, and they are currently on target to increase by 17%. The business has increased their staff and estimate to increase this further over the next 3 years.

The business have since recommended the fully funded support through the Business Growth Programme.

The Business Growth Programme is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and delivered by Liverpool City Region Local Authorities and Chambers of Commerce through the LCRIBS (Liverpool City Region Integrated Business Support) programme.

Through the programme businesses have the opportunity for face to face or on-line support or a mixture of both.
