There weren’t many industries that didn’t feel the impact of COVID-19 and the subsequent lockdown; in-person events and venues were amongst the first to close their doors following the outbreak, closing many avenues of growth for local companies like Adlib.
Adlib are event technology experts for creative production. Based in Knowsley, they provide audio, lighting, video, staging, and rigging to rent, buy, or install, and have partnered with artists, music festivals, venues, museums, theatres and more throughout the UK and Europe.
After an undoubtedly tough couple of years, while in-person events and venues remained closed, the team at Adlib were determined to get back to ‘business as usual’ and began to investigate funding opportunities – it was then that they came across the Liverpool City Region Capital Grant Fund.
The Capital Grant Fund is part of the LCR High Growth Programme, a range of support that has been brought together by the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority and made available through Growth Platform, the Liverpool City Region Growth Company.
Funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the LCR High Growth Programme is designed to support businesses in the Liverpool City Region, demonstrating high growth potential to innovate, adapt, and grow.
The Capital Grant Fund is delivered by St Helens Chamber and supports SMEs looking to develop their business with capital investments, such as digitisation, innovation, low carbon technology adoption and reaching new markets.
Adlib are one of the latest beneficiaries of the Capital Grant Fund, receiving £75,000 to support their growth plans at their office in Knowsley.
Chris Bird, Head of Finance at Adlib, commented: “The last couple of years have been a huge struggle due to the Covid pandemic, and since venues and events have re-opened, we were determined to return as quickly as possible”.
“Once we had confirmed our eligibility criteria, we found the application process [for the Capital Grant Fund] very straightforward”.
“The grant, which assisted us in purchasing new equipment, was essential to our business growth plans, and we expect to create at least eight new jobs within the Liverpool City Region.”
