Hugh Baird College proud to sign the Tomorrow’s Engineers Code

Hugh Baird College has become the latest organisation, and the first Further Education College in England, to sign up to the Tomorrow’s Engineers Code.

The Code, created by EngineeringUK, is a commitment to work toward common goals to increase the diversity and number of young people entering engineering careers.

Centered around four pledges, signatories commit to inspiring connection, driving inclusion, showcasing engineering as a career choice and improving impact. Those who sign the Code become part of the Code Community, which consists of engineering firms, professional institutions, and government departments, including the Department for Education, Network Rail and Shell.

Dr Charuni Dissanayaka, STEM Technical Level Lead at Hugh Baird College, said:

“Signing the Tomorrow’s Engineers Code is an example of how Hugh Baird College is supporting the industry workforce of the future. The Code resonates with our core values of being innovative, collaborative and showing accountability and integrity in everything we do.”

“The College is a key driver in addressing the skills gaps that the Liverpool City Region faces, and by joining The Code, we can better understand what we can do more of to drive up the quality of engagement activities we undertake within our community.”
