Trading since 2008, Abbey Group is an engineering company based in Knowsley and recognised as a significant local high growth business.

Offering a broad range of engineering capabilities from traditional metal fabrication to precision engineering, Abbey Group have grown year on year and now have a group turnover of £12 million employing over 100 staff.

The Abbey Group have expanded by investing in new technologies which combined with the expertise of the team has allowed the group to enter new and diverse markets across the UK and abroad in industries such as the automotive, nuclear, rail, security, warehousing, energy and structural steel sectors.

Abbey Group reached out to the LCR High Growth Programme through St Helens Chamber to apply for a grant to assist with the renovation and kit-out of a former WW2 Bunker. The Capital Growth Fund investment has allowed them to diversify into the production of textiles for a Blue-Chip European customer continuing to expand their enterprise.

Their success recently led to them being named as ones to watch for ‘Delivering a Sustainable and Industrial Future’ by Growth Platform as part of the #AmbitiousLCR List

Finance Director Myke O’Brien told us:

“Having access to and benefitting from the LCR High Growth Programme has allowed us to continue our growth and generate additional jobs for the local community. Without it we would not have been able to compete for a contract and bring a large blue-chip company to the region.”

The LCR High Growth Programme was specifically designed to support high growth (or high growth potential) businesses in the Liverpool City Region to adapt, innovate, and grow.

Capital Growth Fund delivered by St Helens Chamber is part of the LCR High Growth Programme that is part funded by ERDF and the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority and delivered by Growth Platform – Liverpool City Region Growth Company.
