Livv Housing Group is crowned Knowsley’s Net Zero Champion

Recognised for its contribution to a greener future, local housing association, Livv Housing Group, scooped the Net Zero Champion Award at this year’s Knowsley Business Awards.

The Net Zero Champion Award recognises organisations that are committed to reducing their carbon emissions and impact on the environment, and the steps being taken to make a positive contribution towards achieving net zero. For Livv, its journey to net zero is well underway.

With the help of wave one grant funding from the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund, the housing association is on track to achieve an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of C by 2025 in all its circa 13,000 customers’ homes, five years ahead of the Government’s target date.

In the past year, Livv has invested a total of £5.64 million improvements to customers’ homes to help reduce carbon emissions. Through the installation of loft, wall and floor insulation, triple glazed windows and solar PV systems, the housing association has reduced its carbon impact by approximately 194 tonnes of CO2 per year.

Other initiatives adopted by Livv include a three-year energy consumption and carbon reduction programme across its estate. This has included solar panels and air source heat pumps installed at its headquarters in Prescot, low energy consumption air conditioning and LED lighting throughout the building.

From 2026 onwards, Livv will push on to achieve net zero by 2050 and a range of trials are currently underway to identify the impact of changes for customers when moving homes to net zero.
Tony Cahill, Executive Director of Property at Livv Housing Group, commented:

“We’re really proud to have taken home the trophy for Net Zero Champion at the Knowsley Business Awards. Our team had a fantastic evening and it was a privilege to be amongst the wide range of local companies who are all doing their bit to reduce their impact on the environment.

“We embarked on our long-term net zero plan back in 2018. ESG is a real priority for us and the award is a huge testament to the hard work and commitment of our business, teams and everybody involved on our journey, including our customers.”

Livv’s success on the night didn’t end there as Amanda Manning, Learning & Development Manager, took home the trophy for Highly Commended in the Employee of the Year category.

The Knowsley Business Awards took place at Knowsley Safari Park on Thursday 23 November.
