Cllr Shelley Powell, Cabinet Member for Communities and Neighbourhoods said:
“In the last few years Knowsley has built a reputation for delivering spectacular public events and so it is fitting that we will start 2024 –the year of Knowsley’s 50th anniversary – with a programme of dazzling moments of light for everyone to enjoy.”
Knowsley’s plans for its 50th year will build on its success as the Liverpool City Region Borough of Culture in 2022. As well as the return of popular annual events like the Knowsley Flower Show, Knowsley Feelgood Festival, and Prescot Elizabethan Fayre, plans for the year have been boosted thanks to £180,000 of funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund. This will be used specifically to support local communities to celebrate their heritage.
