Liverpool Ladies Network and The Girls’ Network are delighted to announce that they will be working in partnership to help girls and young women across Merseyside to believe in their unlimited futures.
Liverpool Ladies Network (LLN) is a not-for-profit business network for professional women working within Liverpool and the City region. They have generously pledged to raise £30,000 for The Girls’ Network over the next year. In addition to fundraising, they will be encouraging their members to become mentors, helping to meet the charity’s target of recruiting around 1,000 new mentors each year.
The Girls’ Network is a charity working to inspire and empower 14 to 19 year old girls by building their confidence, self-esteem and aspirations. They do this by providing one-to-one and group mentoring, access to a network of professional women, and workshops, events and opportunities that build awareness of the world of work, career pathways and essential life skills. Many of the girls they work with don’t believe they can have high-status careers or achieve their ambitions, and may have only been exposed to narrow, stereotypical experiences of work. The charity aims to challenge these beliefs, helping girls to build confidence and a more positive vision of the future.
To mark the start of the partnership, The Girls’ Network were invited to attend the first LLN Spring lunch of the year on Thursday 15th May, at the infamous Liver Buildings. Millie McCaughrean, Senior Network Manager for the charity accompanied Win Chen aged 22 and Raine Vickers aged 19, two local young women who have previously participated in the mentoring programme. The former mentees shared their inspiring stories and spoke about the powerful impact that the programme has had for them.
Millie McCaughrean says:
“We’re so proud to be working with Liverpool Ladies Network. Their commitment to raising vital funds and championing mentoring will make a real difference to girls in the region. At The Girls’ Network, we believe that no girl should have her future limited by her gender, background, or income. Every girl deserves the chance to realise her ambitions, recognise her worth and shape her own future – and this partnership brings us closer to making that a reality.”
Mentoring has the power to transform lives – both for the girls and for the mentors themselves. The Girls’ Network is excited to be working alongside a community of professional women who are equally passionate about creating a fairer, more connected future.
Lindsey Moore, chair of Liverpool Ladies Network, says:
“At Liverpool Ladies Network, we believe in the strength of community and the power of women supporting women. Partnering with The Girls’ Network is a natural fit for us. We’re excited to help raise funds and encourage our members to become mentors – because together, we can help unlock potential and make sure girls across Merseyside know their futures are full of possibility.”
This collaboration marks an exciting step forward in both organisations’ missions to break down barriers and open up opportunities for women and girls alike.
